Review: Lord of the Rings Extended Edition Trilogy

After many bags of popcorn, cheese snacks, and sodas, I can finally deliver my verdict on the amazing adventure that Frodo goes through in Middle Earth. And in my defense, I am not fat. It’s just that each movie was well over three hours. So, yeah, there you go.

The one ring of Mordor looks better than ever on these beautiful Blu-ray dics and is rendered in glorious 1080p in a way that brings Middle Earth to life like never before. The orcs look spectacular, well, actually they are quite ugly, but the quality in which we see them is fantastic. No complaints or disappointments here in terms of picture quality and enthusiats as well as families will be very happy.

6.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. Need I say more?

Extended Edition / Bonus Material

Over 30 minutes of extra footage in the first movie, over 43 minutes extra footage  in the second and over 50 minutes of extra footage in the third. All movies spanding over over 3 hours and 20 minutes and the last one at over 4 hours, the value of these three movies is well paid for already in just the movies themselves. Add to this that you get appendices, commentary by Jackson and the actors, along with DVD:s that have more extras for you and the value of this boxset cannot be questioned in my eyes. The only real complaint I have is that not everything is Blu-ray but in fact a lot of DVD:s. But if we were to get that many Blu-ray discs, the price would be five times as high probably. 6 Blu-rays and 9 DVD:s for roughly $129? Damn right it’s a good deal. If you own a Blu-ray player this must be in your collection.

Rating: 5 out of 5

This precious box is worthy of all your money.
