UFC 133: Evans vs. Ortiz

Fight week! Yes, this week again! Feels good, doesn’t it? This Saturday it’s time for Evans vs. Ortiz and I am sure the main event will not be the judges call. I feel like someone’s getting knocked out.

Rashad Evans versus Tito Ortiz is the main event. Tito’s back, apparently, according to the UFC and he wants another shot at the belt. Tito just fought last month when he pulled of the big upset against Bader and is fighting again on short notice. I believe he is too tired and unprepared to be a stand-in against a fighter of Rashad’s caliber. Evans will walk away with the KO of the Night bonus check on Saturday. But if you want to get rich, bet on Tito as his odds are through the roof.

Yoshihiro Akiyama versus Vitor Belfort if you believe in pre-fight trash talk, then this will be a slugfest. But we all know that fighters are liars and if they feel outclassed in the standup they will wrestle their opponent down and lay and pray for the remainder of the round. And the next. And the next. If it’s true that Akiyama will stand up against Belfort I believe he will be knockedout.

Rory MacDonald versus Mike Pyle one rising young guy against a veteran on the comeback. I think that Pyle will pull this fight off by submission or at least earn himself a decision. No doubt.

Alexander Gustafsson versus Matt Hamill the Swede is fighting yet again and though I am Swedish I am not as hyped about him like most Swedes are. He has won some nice victories over no namers, but once he got faced with an elite fighter he got raped completely. Matt Hamill is under no circumstances an elite fighter, but he is a good one. This will be a test for Alexander for sure, but even in victory I will remain skeptical.

Of course there are more fights, but these are the one’s that seem most interesting and are on the main card, except for the Hamill vs. Gustafsson fight. It looks like a better than average card for the UFC and the main event is a contender fight, meaning that the winner gets the next title shot against either Rampage or Jones, making it even more interesting. What are you predictions for this event?

Is Tito really back? A win against Rashad would certainly mean yes.
