Captain America: The First Avenger

I finally broke my 7 months protest (in Sweden) and went and saw Captain America: The First Avenger in theaters on the premiere. And it was good.

Steve Rogers wants to fight for his country. But has nor the body or health for it. Fortunately, he gets picked for a new experiment which leads him to become Captain America. The first avenger.

Captain America follows the traditional Marvel layout we’ve seen in the previous Marvel movies with realism, humor, and action. But Captain America is definitely the most realistic one of them all and the one with the deepest storyline as well. It doesn’t focus as much on humor as the others did although it certainly has jokes.  The movie is rather long clocking in at 2 hours and 4 minutes with an additional scene after the credits, so be sure to sit through the credits in order not to miss anything.

I found Captain America to be extremely well-written, thorough, and proper. It is nice to have a human superhero although he might be close to superhuman, he still is Steve Rogers and he doesn’t hide it which is a nice change as most heroes do hide their identities. Yes, I’m looking at you Spider-man.

Closing comments

Captain America is a very balanced movie with serious story, realism, and great action moments. It even has some comedy thrown into it, although not as much as other Marvel movies such as Iron Man. If you liked any of the other Marvel movies you’ll definitely love Captain America and even if you didn’t, this one’s worth a shot anyway. Salute the Captain!

Rating: 4 out of 5

Captain America’s debut is most impressive.

One Response to “Captain America: The First Avenger”

  1. Carmen Says:

Agent Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) is so poised that she even wears red lipstick to battle.
Schmidt is assisted by soldiers with the look and the energy of Darth Vader. The plane in which Schmidt makes his escape looks like a B2 bomber (pretty advanced stuff for 1943!)

Rogers is hotter than hell. This movie is a lot of fun, with subtle jokes and plenty of war action to please the audience.
