Google gaining on Apple in my world

January 3, 2013

Apple versus Google. That’s how it works in the smartphone business although it’s mostly referred to as Apple versus Samsung. But we cannot forget that it’s Google who own the Android OS system that all Android smartphones run. And they also own a lot of other things that Apple products used to come built-in with such as YouTube and Maps.

I noticed this while I checked my first screen on my iPhone today. There it was. Google Maps, and Apple Maps was hidden away on the very last screen in a folder I never ever use or see. Google Maps is vastly superior in every sense and I have absolute zero intentions of switching. Then YouTube was there, sure, Apple doesn’t have a counterpart but still, it’s a third-party App there in the very first screen and it’s by Google.

For my mail I still use Apple’s official mail application. Sure, it’s linked to my Gmail, but nevertheless, I really prefer the Apple app over the Gmail one currently.

What about Apple’s iCloud? Well, I don’t use it all. I use Google’s equivalent. Frequently. So once again Google starts to becoming more and more pressing in my life. Add to this that I also use Google’s Calender. OK, it’s synched with my iPhone calender, but still.

I would also be lying if I said I wasn’t curious about how Samsung’s next S4 phone will be like – never before had I even considered caring about another smartphone. So It will be interesting to see how Apple keep improving with the iOS 7 and iPhone 6 to keep me as a customer.

Will Android OS 5.0 finally be interesting? Or will Apple continue to dominate in my life?

What I want from the next iPhone

December 19, 2012

I didn’t get the iPhone 5 because it missed out on several of my essential requirements. Now, I am forced to wait for the next model. So what are the things I want it to have in order to pick it up?

  • 4G support in my country. As of right now, the 5 still doesn’t have it. Unacceptable.
  • 10-hour battery via constant 4G usage and even longer through WiFi. Come on, we have smartphones but no decent batteries? Feels counterintuitive.
  • NFC payment capabilities and storage system. Passbook is decent in the U.S. perhaps, but everywhere else it sucks and has no support. Bring us NFC.
  • New camera that stabilizes much faster in terms of focus and better nighttime quality.
  • Stronger screen protection against scratches and marks.
  • Wireless charging in some variation would be nice.

That’s pretty much it in terms of hardware improvements. For the iOS 7 I’d like to see:

  • Calender in lock screen constantly displayed. (Jailbreakers did this several years ago, why can’t Apple make it? It’s insanely useful.)
  • Instagram integration sharing.
  • Significantly improved Siri + her AI, especially in my country. I want her to be able to provide facts and answers more so than just googling them.
  • Fix Apple Maps issues/problems faster.

Other than that I consider iOS to be vastly superior to any competitor and doesn’t need that much changing really.

Samsung claim that their next S4 phone will have an unbreakable screen. If that’s true, I’d expect nothing less from the next iPhone.

You know what really grinds my gears?

September 25, 2012

Android hipsters and overall Android users. They think that every iPhone user bought it blindly and would “buy anything Apple released even though it was crap” etc. That shit pisses me off beyond belief. They are sitting on a vastly inferior OS with vastly inferior hardware and act as if they are more consumer aware than everyone else. I have an iPhone simply because it’s the best smartphone out there. And those are facts. If we go to benchmark tests the iPhone 5 is the fastest smartphone available. If we go to screen quality tests – you guessed right: iPhone claims that prize again. And not only that – it has the broadest selection of quality apps such as games and utility apps.

So if you are one of those mongoloids from the deep mountains in Mongolia with your Android phone and love to bash Apple products because you can’t afford them or want to be a hipster, fuck you. That’s right.

Once again, the fastest and best smartphone on the market according to professional reviews.

iPhone 5?

February 27, 2012

Here’s a nice fan made request for iPhone 5. And I must say, it looks hotter than iPhone has ever looked before. In fact, if this turns out to be the final design, I’d buy it for sure.

What do you guys think about this Apple Mouse inspired iPhone 5?

Shark Night 3D

January 18, 2012

Just finished my first 3D Blu-ray movie on my brand new TV. Shark Night 3D got the honor to be the very first, although I did already try the 3D effects on several other movies.

Shark Night 3D is a horror movie about… can you guess? That’s right, pandas. Just joking. It’s about sharks.

The movie itself wasn’t bad actually. It had a unique story and twists compared to other movies, but then again, when I think about it, usually scary shark movies are special. The Blu-ray quality of the movie was good and so was the sound. The 3D effects were good as well and didn’t feel forced and really fit the mood so to speak.

If you’re looking for a unique shark movie for that cozy horror movie night with your girlfriend, Shark Night 3D is definitely a good pick. Even if you don’t have 3D, it’s worth watching. There are a lot of young females with very little clothing for most of the time. At least that should get the guys interested.

Rating: 3 out 5

A very common view in Shark Night 3D.

New Stuff

January 18, 2012

I’ve done some serious shopping these past days, extending from gadgets to clothes. Great way to start the new year in my opinion.

First I bought a new TV, a juicy 46″ 3D Smart TV from Samsung. It’s just flat-out amazing and stunning. I’m most impressed and Samsung surely outdid themselves.

Secondly I got a new iPhone 4S. I just had to have Siri with me and that great camera for spontaneous moments. White color, of course.

Lastly, I got ton of muay thai training gear and athletic wear from my favorite brand Under Armour. Now I’m fully ready to tackle the gym in style and comfort.

Also, I will be graduating in 2012 and have a lot of traveling planned. First up is Brussels. But more on that later.

My new TV, and she’s smart, too.

Iphone 4S becomes fastest selling smartphone

October 17, 2011

Apple has sold over 4 million Iphone 4S in just over three days, making it the fastest selling smartphone in history. No wonder Samsung is trying to stop that thing. They don’t hit those numbers until months.

Which one do you prefer?
