Friends Blu-ray

November 21, 2012

Finally! I have in my possession the entire collection of the TV show Friends on Blu-ray disc so that I can enjoy it in glorious HD.

I’ve waited this for quite some time as I am in desperate need of a new “background TV show”, you know, a show that’s on in the background while doing things and when there’s nothing else to do. Seinfeld has long filled that slot with its great seasons but it has come to a point where every episode has been seen more than three times and I just can’t stand it anymore.

Can’t wait to enjoy it in HD for the first time ever.

Game of Thrones

November 19, 2012

And so comes season two of Games of Thrones to an end. It was a magical journey and even though I felt that it went in the wrong directions in some areas – it still was a phenomenal show and two seasons. I can’t wait for season three to begin and continue to follow the story of the throne.

I expect season three to be one of the more exciting ones as each season has built on the suspense for the upcoming season. I had the fortune to see the two seasons back-to-back but now with the third one I have to wait.

Do you follow Game of Thrones?

The stunning Khaleesi of Game of Thrones.

Game of Thrones

November 13, 2012

I just finished the first season of Game of Thrones and I am in love with it. Better late than never, right? Already started season two and despite it getting a bit weird towards the end I still am fascinated with the show and intend to watch every single episode of it.

It’s so good that I will even read the books. Yup yup.

Do you enjoy Game of Thrones? If you haven’t seen it, do it.

Winter is coming.

Arrow continues to impress

October 23, 2012

The second episode of Arrow continues to impress and intrigue and that’s good. It’s to get a high quality show like this that’s fresh and new and I intend to stick with it throughout all seasons. Unless it gets insanely dull, of course.

The Vampire Diaries

October 21, 2012

So I just finished the first two episodes of The Vampire Diaries and I am loving it so far. I understand why it has become such a phenomenon. I have several shows to “catch up” on that I haven’t even started, and it’s sad to say as I am a huge lover of motion pictures. At least by waiting this long I get to enjoy it in 1080p Blu-ray. And that’s always some comfort.

After I finish Vampire Diaries, there are several other shows I need to catch up on. True Blood, Walking Dead, Burn Notice, Game of Thrones, yeah, the list goes on forever and and ever. How will I ever have a life? I don’t know. One of my new rules will be to never let yourself get this behind again. 😛

Time to go back to show!

There’s plenty of beauty in The Vampire Diaries.

April 30, 2012

One of my new recent favorite TV shows is none other than Good Christian Bitches or as it is called now, GCB.

I like to think of it as Desperate Housewives in Dallas, Texas with a funny Christian twist to it and a lot of women that I simply adore.

If you like Desperate Housewives and are looking for a show with comedy and excitement, then you should definitely check this show out, even though it’s primarily for the female audience. Unfortunately the show isn’t doing too well in critics eyes and it came on as a mid-season show to cover for some other and that’s sad. I’d love to have seen a full season of 24 episodes and at least two to three more seasons of it.

One of the funniest characters in GCB and one of the best actresses.

Battlestar Galactica

April 18, 2012

I just picked up Battlestar Galactica season 1 on Blu-ray. I don’t know why. I haven’t seen a single episode of the series but I heard good things about it so I thought, why not? I’ll give it a try.

Expect updated impressions once I’ve seen a few episodes. Do any of you follow the show? If so, what are your thoughts on it?

This box is now in my collection. Let’s see if I’ll add another one.

Best of 2011

January 7, 2012

Unfortunately I won’t have time to do a thorough and long Best of the Year award post for 2011, so I have decided to very briefly announce my winners of Movie of the Year and Game of the Year.

Movie of the Year: In Time

Insanely close runner-up: Limitless

The very second I saw the first five seconds of the trailer I knew this was a special movie and immediately stopped watching the trailer. I wanted to save every other second of this movie for the theater. It immediately became my most anticipated movie of the year as well. With the most unique and interesting concept of a movie that I’ve ever seen, where time is the currency for everything – including life. I don’t want to spoil anything else as I consider everything you say about movies more or less to be spoiler. So I’ll end it right there. But trust me. This is handsdown the best and most interesting movie of the year.

Game of the Year: Star Wars: The Old Republic

It has been over six years since I played a game as much as Star Wars: The Old Republic. MMORPG:s seem to be my genre without a doubt. I’ve clocked in more hours in SWTOR in two weeks than I did in two months in Battlefield 3. And that says pretty much everything.  The Old Republic is by far the most fascinating time and place in the world. Never before have I been this engaged in a storyline. I am all about The Old Republic now and I am not even thinking about other fantastic games that got delayed from 2011 such as Diablo III. In fact, I might not even pick it up on launch day anymore. There’s just too much to do in SWTOR and it will only get better and better as BioWare will be releasing a major PvP patch in January to fix all the flaws. Fantastic. Needless to say, expect me to play countless more hours of Star Wars in 2012.

Book of the Year: Star Wars: The Old Republic: Revan

It was released roughly one month before the game. It was a perfect prequel taking place around 300 years before the game. And boy, not only does this novel have brilliant storytelling, emotional moments, and excitement, but it’s perfectly connected to the game in such a way that made me jump out of my chair and scream in excitement when I was playing Star Wars: The Old Republic. Brilliantly done BioWare and Drew Karpyshyn. Definitely the best book of the year in my eyes.

TV Show of the Year: Breaking Bad (Season 4)

I rarely praise a show for being beyond human. Beyond something that we deserve and can comprehend. But Breaking Bad season 4 is one of those shows that makes me thankful for having such brilliant writers and actors. It has become my all-time favorite TV show now surpassing legends such as 24 and Lost. I hope that Breaking Bad will continue to run in the same brilliant manner for at least two more season at least. If you haven’t given Breaking Bad a go, you definitely should. And do it legit. They deserve your support and encouragement. As soon as it comes out on Blu-ray I will pick those babies up.

There you have my list of best movie, show, book, and game of 2011. What’s on your list?

The Return of Black Adam

November 12, 2010

Superman is my favorite superhero, so it tends to be that I watch as much Superman related things that I can and it just happened to be that I came across the, short, but good episode of Superman Shazam: The Return of Black Adam in 1080p.

Like I mentioned earlier, it’s quite the short film, or episode, if you will. Running at approximately 22 minutes it doesn’t offer much story or depth, but it does offer some interesting scenes in the superhero world and explains how the Wizard chose his suitor to get the powerful “Shazam” powers so to speak.

If you want a quick fix of Superman and some Shazam magic, you should definitely check this one out as it’s very good and short, kind of like a quickie, huh? Why waste precious time?

Black Adam is a white guy. A powerful one I might add.

Conan continues to impress

November 11, 2010

Conan’s been on for three episodes now and it’s clear on what type of show it’ll be and what to expect from it. Did it live up to my hype or did it fall short?

I’ve laughed pretty hard every show and that’s a good sign. I am impressed by the set in general as well as the material shown. The guests (except for Mr. Hank) have not been that impressive yet, but I am sure that part of the show will improve over time. Afterall, thus far it’s the only flaw. And maybe that there aren’t enough skits, yet, at least.

If you haven’t tuned in to see Conan’s new show, I strongly recommend that you do. Especially if you want a good laugh.
