No more FIFA

I bought FIFA 14 because I haven’t bought a FIFA game since FIFA 11.  That’s three years, figured I’d give it a shot because it was really cheap, only $30 at the time.

Boy,  am I disappointed. The balance is horrible. The defenders are insanely overpowered. The strikers are still way too defensive and the same problems that have been there forever are still present. 

The head game in FIFA 14 was a joke – so they patched it two weeks after launch. But that doesn’t solve all problems. It’s still a very, very poor product.

Therefore, there will be no more FIFA for me for a long time. At earliest I’ll pick up FIFA 16, but then I expect a dramatic improve in AI and gameplay and not a cheap shovel ware like FIFA 14 was. I’ll see you in two years EA, hopefully you’ve actually done something new by then.

No more FIFA for at least two years. I want dramatic improvement.

EA Sports UFC

EA has finally shown us some pre-alpha gameplay and talked about the vision of the game. I like it. I like it a lot. This is one of the reasons as to why I will be getting a console.

A few hours with FIFA 11

FIFA 11 is the newest game in the series and came out roughly two months ago and needless to say, I’ve spent a few hours with it and am ready to criticize it.

The gameplay is more realistic and feels better. The graphics are improved as well. There are some new features, most notably is the Career Mode Player feature where you get to play as a player this time and not a manager. Sounds pretty awesome, right? Well, it’s not. You do not get to comment on matches. You do not get to request yourself to be substituted when you’re tired. You do not get to participate in interviews. You do not get to simulate matches. In fact, you do not get to do anything pretty much. The manager either picks you or not and depending on your game rating you either strengthen your position in the squad or weaken it.  A horribly poor implementation with no content. Are they saving all of that for FIFA 12? Or will they only add some of them and save the rest for FIFA 13? Either way, it’s a huge disappointment.

Other than that the game is pretty much the same with solid online features, and you can now play as the goalie etc. Minor changes in terms of features and they are clearly saving the milk for next year to milk it even more. Sure, the enhanced gameplay is probably the most important change, but still, it doesn’t feel fair for the $59.99 price tag unless you are hardcore FIFA lover and need to play competitively online like me.

FIFA 10 imponerar rejält

Idag köpte jag FIFA 10. Det började bli lite tröttsamt med FIFA 09, plus att min kompis övertalade mig att införskaffa spelet, så till slut gjorde jag det. Efter flera hundra timmar med 09 var det dags att gå vidare. Och det är jag mycket glad över att jag gjorde, för att FIFA 10 är galet förbättrat spel, mycket mer än jag trodde.

Det är en helt ny fysik i spelet gällande både bollen och spelarna. Intelligensen på försvaret har gått upp rejält, och känslan likaså. Det gillas. Mycket nöje och jag ser fram emot att spela mer FIFA 10 imorgon. Just nu ser betyget ut att bli skyhögt. Detta är utan tvekan det mest realistiska fotbollsspelet – någonsin. Det är en rejäl förbättring från 09 och det är värt att köpas. Gillar du fotboll, köp! Inget PES2010-snack här inte, det är rent skräp i jämförelse. EA har verkligen hållt vad de lovat med FIFA 10.

Nu är det dags att slappna av och göra lite läxor inför helgen och förbereda sig för nya South Park. Sedan förbereda sig för jobbet imorgon. Jobbar som sagt måndag-fredag, tunga grejer. Welcome to real life, så att säga. Men jag trivs på jobbet än så länge och alla är supertrevliga och hjälpsamma.
